For Usucha (Thin Tea)
Sift 1g (about 2 bamboo scoops) of matcha into a tea bowl. Add 30ml of water at approximately 80°C (176°F).
Whisk briskly using a bamboo whisk (chasen) until smooth and lightly frothy.
Serve immediately.
For Koicha (Thick Tea)
Sift 1g of matcha into a tea bowl.
Add 20ml of water at approximately 70°C (158°F).
Knead gently with a bamboo whisk until a smooth, thick consistency is achieved.
