Kanbayashi Shunsho Honten Somei no Mukashi (爽明の昔) is a premium Uji matcha created by one of Japan's oldest and most respected tea houses. This distinguished tea was specially selected as the preferred matcha for the 100th memorial service of Sen no Rikyu (Rikyuki Hyakkaiki Soshō Okonomi), reflecting the deep traditions of the Japanese tea ceremony.

Crafted from carefully selected Uji-grown tencha leaves and slowly stone-ground into an exceptionally fine powder, Somei no Mukashi offers a mellow umami, gentle natural sweetness, elegant aroma, and a long, refined finish. Although specially blended for preparing rich Koicha (thick matcha), it also produces an outstanding Usucha with remarkable smoothness.

Whether used for formal tea gatherings, daily tea ceremony practice, or enjoying an authentic bowl of Japanese matcha at home, this ceremonial-grade matcha delivers the rich heritage and craftsmanship of Kyoto's Uji tea tradition.
